RURAL ELECTRIFICATION OF REMOTE REGION USING DC MICRO-GRID
In order to meet electricity demand in rural area, we need to be more focused on the 3’E’s (Efficient, Economic, Energetic) and convenient approach for generating and distributing electricity using various optimizing techniques. DC micro-grid is naturally reliable and cost effective when used with renewable energy. The project emphasizes more on analysis and control of DC micro-grid. The main focus is towards the electrification of the rural space, which is attained using renewable energy source (photo voltaic system) with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique by utilizing Perturb & Observe method keeping in mind the economic and climatic conditions of Indian villages. The design presented here considers simulation of a DC micro-grid; which consists of self designed boost converter, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Bi-directional DC-DC converter level at 120V for charging and discharging control. Matlab simulation is provided for every converter.
